Objective
Skiing downhill with changes of direction in the snowplough position
Terrain: Gently inclined slope
Movement Description:
Start in the fall line and snowplough position – elevated Middle Position – gradually increase turning, loading, and edging of the outside ski to steer out of the fall line. A forward/upward movement initiates the new change of direction and the weight shift.
Methodical Progression
- Start in the snowplough, fall line and tall Middle Position, change direction in the run-out
- Single turn
Start in a traversing snowplough – Middle Position – forward/upward movement – enter the fall line – load the outside ski – finish the turn - One-and-a-half turn
- Gentle changes of direction near the fall line
- Linking changes of direction
- Application during easy descents
Tipp
- A fan-shaped progression can be helpful for support.
- Depressions in the terrain or a „bobsled track“ can serve as useful terrain aids.
- To practice efficiently and conserve energy, uphill aids are useful. However, using lifts must be learned (explain slope and lift rules)!
