Objective
Controlled skiing of moguls through flexing and extending movements with turning – striving for constant snow contact.
Terrain: Gently sloping to steep terrain
Movement Description
From the middle position, bend the legs when riding onto the bump – pole plant just before the crest of the bump – edge change, turn the skis on the crest – extend the legs while rotating into the valley of the bump – build up the Alpine Basic Position – steer.
Methodical Progression
- Schuss or traversing over moguls – active and passive flexion and extension of the legs (compensation technique)
- Stationary exercise, explanation of turning on the crest of the bump with pole plant
- From stationary: start on the crest, turn and steer into the valley of the bump
- Turn toward the slope over a bump
- Single turn: ski over a bump – flexion and extension with turning and steering
- Link turns, connected by traversing
- Vary line choice and rhythm; ski over bumps – ski through the valleys of the bumps
